Horsetail is part of the Greek flora. It is considered a “living fossil”, as it is related to trees that existed on Earth 270 million years ago, during the Carboniferous period.

Its stems are rich in silicon and it was used by ancient Egyptians for treating wounds. Pliny mentions that the miraculous properties of this plant are so powerful that even simple contact was enough to heal one’s wounds.
